Car Gets Up To 7,000 Miles To The Gallon

Stories vary as to exactly how many miles this Microjoule car actually gets to the gallon but one thing is for sure; it gets a lot more miles to the gallon than most of the cars on the road today.

This car first made an appearance in the 2006 Shell Oil Eco-Marathon. Shell Oil you say? Well yeah, they have to do PR because just about everybody is ready to slit their throats. The Microjoule won both in 2006 and 2007 in the prototype car division. One thing people have to realize though is that these cars are not being driven the way you and I drive. And they are tiny. They are accelerated slowly, coasted down hills and aren’t using the AC. But as the price of oil continues to rise, don’t be surprised if you see your fellow drivers coasting down hill in front of you.

The car looks like a little worm. Won’t it be really hot in that small space?
