Turn Signal Jacket For Bikers and Cyclists

Everyone knows that motorcycle riders and cyclists suffer from lack of visibility when it comes to being seen on the road by other drivers in automobiles. This jacket, made by Arduino, may help, and in a stylish and amusing way. The switch to turn the LED signal on and off is in the wrist. SparkFun, started by an electrical engineering student, makes micro-controllers for various applications. This is one of those clever applications.
Electronic textiles otherwise known as e-textiles, are fabrics that have electronics and interconnections woven into them, with physical flexibility and size that cannot be achieved with existing electronic manufacturing techniques.

Wow, what a cool idea. I wonder what happens if the rider gets caught in the rain though. Will the electronics fizzle out?

Good question but I would think they have that base covered as it is an outdoor jacket.

Fantastic blog! I love gadgets too.
Speaking of gadgets, have you considered adding an e-mail subscription option? Try as I might to adjust to a reader, I really prefer to receive blog posts by e-mail. Just call me a dinosaur.
I’m going to visit your NY blog next. My dad was born in the Bronx and I’m a real fan of everything New York (in spite of growing up in California), so I’m looking forward to reading it.

I think as a car driver I would be thrown off by that!

What a neat little gadget. Since I don’t have a bike I would use this as I am walking to throw people off. It would be like that Simpsons episode where Bart had a belt that had blinkers. He was being chased so he turned on his left blinker and the kids chasing him thought he was turning left, but he really went right. I would be so awesome if I could do that.

What an awesome idea! I always get nervous when I have to take my hands off the handlebars to signal my intentions. This is great!!
