Terabyte Hard Drives Now Reasonably Priced!
A friend told me about this last night on IM. It’s incredible really. We have come so far so fast in the world of technology. Where will we be in 5 years at this rate?
The specs are: 5400 to 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s. Reviews I’ve read so far say it’s quiet, very quiet. And I’ve read about 20 reviews. It runs cooler than most drives too. Based on the benchmarks, it’s just as fast as many 7500 rpm hard drives. It uses less power than smaller drives and the price has dropped twice already.
New Egg has a Western Digital one terabyte hard drive for $279 which is a very reasonable price considering the size of this puppy. And New Egg is very reliable. I ordered all my parts from there to the computer I built many years ago. And believe me I shopped around. It was a lot of parts after all. I also ordered my digital cameras from there, battery chargers and so forth. I highly recommend the site.
I know I’ve said no tech speak here and I do strive to make this blog intelligible to all readers no matter what their level of techspertise but sometimes I can’t help it if the geek in me comes out. So humor me just this once folks!

It blows my mind that these are so cheap. It was only a few years ago that I bought a 250 Gig for around the same price. Crazy.
