Walk While You Work

Exercise Work Station

Do you like the idea of getting some exercise while you work at your computer? Do you get nagged about getting some exercise instead of parking your butt in front of the computer all day? Well this work station from Steelcase allows you to get that exercise and use the computer at the same time! You can also just play video games (not at work!) or surf the net and still be active in body as well as in mind. What will they think of next?

Oh, I want this! But I do so love to lie in bed while on the computer. Hmmm.

This is a really interesting idea but personally I don’t see it being too practical. Running while typing while staring at a computer screen seems like a pretty difficult task but at least they’re making an attempt at incorporating physical activity into the workplace.

I’m not sure I could type and jog at the same time. A slow walk would probably work.

Has anyone actually bought one of those? Like everyone else said, it doesn’t look very convenient/work-friendly. It’s a nice concept, but will never catch on. Plus, most people probably don’t have the room for that in their home or office, so not really anywhere to put it.

Considering the Steelcase Walkstation is limited to no more than 2mph you won’t have to worry about running, or even jogging, while using the computer. The idea is to walk at a slow, comfortable pace. All of the comments that I’ve seen from people who have tried them, even those who were just taking it for a test spin, say that it’s very natural to type and read at speeds up to 1.5 mph, some have no problems at 2.

I’m hoping to get something like this but I can’t justify Steelcase’s current prices so I may cobble together my own.
