Foldable TV Screens Are On The Horizon

This is truly amazing stuff. Flexible TV screens mean foldaway cell phones and tiny computers! With paper thin screens like this the possibilities are endless. Sony has designed this organic light emitting diode screen that is only 2.5 inches and weighs a mere 1.5 grams. While they have no specific product in mind currently and this is only a prototype, I imagine a real application is only around the corner.

This would be useful for maybe a laptop screen you could carry in your pocket or something along those lines… When is this supposed to be public?

That is extremely cool. I cannot wait till i can fold a TV into my pocket or even better if they had a holographic projector so you didn’t need anything in your pocket.

I understand that the next generation of palm readers will have flexible screens so that you can read your favourite book on your way to work and not worrying about dropping the device.

Foldable TV screens look great but I can’t see the practicality of having screen like this unless the entire unit can be folded as well. I will prefer crash-resistant TV screens.

This is only possible with the help of nano technologies which provides enough flexibility to the materials. Brilliant stuff

That’s pretty nuts. I doubt we’ll see this publicly released for a while, if at all. Japanese companies are always displaying some crazy new tech that are years away.
