Electricity Usage Monitor Saves Money

With prices of everything going sky high I like to cut corners where I can, and one place where I have done a pretty decent job of decreasing costs is in our electricity usage. I unplug appliances that aren’t in use because anything that is plugged in draws a current, even if it is not turned on. A lot of people don’t know this. Items that have an LED display but are turned off are also drawing some significant current. So unplug it if when you are not using it. A good way to see how much juice your appliance is drawing is to use an electricity usage monitor. You simply plug the appliance into the monitor and see how much current it draws. This unit will display voltage, line frequency and power factor. Armed with this knowledge, you can make the best decisions on how to run your appliances efficiently and you will know if it’s time to buy a newer more efficient piece of equipment.

I’m sure this device comes in handy, but what about appliances such as entertainment electronics? If I unplug them when I’m not using them, then they lose part of their memory, like clock settings and other preferences. Surely there’s a better way to save $$$ on those types of appliances.
