A Backpack Helicopter Will Be Dropping In Soon
Forward thinkers have been working on the design of a backpack helicopter since the 1940’s. With time the designs became more sophisticated and the reality of a backpack helicopter was nearing.

We’ve all seen ultralights, and this helicopter looks somewhat similar to one of those with the difference being of course the way it is propelled, with its engine and blades above the pilot instead of behind him.

The tips of the blades actually have rocket engines on them (above photo).

A new company is working on a light backpack helicopter that will be propelled by blade tip rocket engines as in the above concept diagram. It will be so light that it will be attached to the pilot by only a carbon fiber vest. Notice that it has no tail rotor as in the model in the previous photo. Tail rotor failure is what causes 80% of the helicopter accidents so eliminating this piece should eliminate that cause of accidents.
Soon your neighbors will be dropping in to say hello, from above.
