Ultra Slim Camera

I like my camera but I wish it had two things that this camera has. Ultra slim size and a nice large 2.5 inch LCD screen. This camera’s resolution goes up to 5 megapixels meaning that you can take poster size pictures and then some, but who really needs so many pixels? Lots of pixels means large photos, meaning large hard drive space utilization. Try to send one of those babies by email without shrinking it and the mail server will throw up. The Panasonic, DMCFX8K, has a 3X optical zoom which is more than adequate for ordinary people like us. But forget the digital zoom. Never use it, in any camera! Instead of really zooming in you are getting the camera software extrapolating what the photo should look like when closer. This results in lousy photos. I have mine turned off. The shutter speed is good and it has image stabilization, also nice. It’s about $300 new $160 refurbished and possibly my next camera. Panasonic has excellent reliability rates for most brands of equipment that they manufacture. Just remember, don’t send large photos by email before you edit them and make them smaller. Many image editors now have a function where you can send a bunch to your email program and it shrinks their size at the same time.

I love my Canon Elph. Big screen, image stabalization, plus all the typical shooting options. Got mine on the internet for
$249, thanks to my daughter’s suggestion and I really love it. Took it to Europe last September and took three hundred picture postcard quality photos. It only weighs six ounces.
I think all the digitals are great and keep getting better and better. It just depends what you’re looking for.

I am looking for a camera that is minimal in width. I would like to find one that will fit in my clutch.
